BREXIT Update from our Global UK Partners

BREXIT Update from our Global UK Partners

I have been asking DEFRA for clarity as to what happens after 31 Jan 2020 when the Prime Minister declares the UK has left the EU. Below is the latest from DEFRA:
After the 31st of January we will enter into an implementation period. During this period, the current EU Pet Travel Rules will continue to apply to the non-commercial movements of dogs, cats and ferrets between the UK and EU. This means that for pet owners wishing to travel to the EU during this time, there will be no change to current rules – pets can travel on current Pet Passports.
Please note the implementation period is the actual “deal” negotiation period and is currently due to last until 31 Dec 2020.
Summary, as it stands at present from the above information, there will be no change for pet travel to or from the UK, or involving the UK as a transit point between both Ireland and the UK. So at present until Dec 2020, the 2012 pet passport scheme regulations remain in place.
